Terms of service

Provisional version, published during the closed beta and under legal review. If it changes substantially, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.

1. Who we are

RPG Assistant is an app for running tabletop role-playing campaigns, focused on the time between one session and the next (downtime). It is offered by WEBMINDS DI TOSELLO SIMONE, Via Walter Tobagi 22, 20010 Bernate Ticino (MI), Italy, VAT IT13121170966 (contact: itosellos@hotmail.it). By using the app you accept these terms and the privacy policy.

2. Closed beta

• Access is by invitation: you need a code to sign up.
• During the beta the service is free and provided «as is»: features may change or disappear, there may be interruptions, and we do not guarantee availability times.
• We make daily backups, but keep a copy of anything that matters to you.
• Paid plans, when they arrive, will have their own conditions, which you will accept at the time of purchase.

3. Your account

• One account per person.
• Use a valid email and keep your password private.
• You must be at least 16 (see the privacy policy, § 8).
• You are responsible for what happens with your account; tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.

4. Campaigns and roles

• Whoever creates a campaign is its Master: they invite the players, manage characters and content, can archive the campaign and, once archived, delete it.
• Deleting a campaign also deletes the content the players wrote in it. The Master must confirm by typing the campaign's name.
• The Master can remove a character from a campaign, or mark it as fallen or retired.
• Each player sees only what the Master has made visible and what concerns their character.
• Each user can create at most 10 campaigns.

5. The content you write

• It stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to run the app: storing it, showing it to the members of your campaign according to their role, and sending it to the AI assistant when you use it (§ 7). The permission ends when you delete the content or the account, except for backups, which are gone within 14 days.
• You are responsible for what you write. In particular, do not enter copyrighted material you have no right to use (including text from game books that are not freely licensed, see § 6), real personal data about other people, or illegal, hateful or harassing content about real people.
• Reports (notice and takedown): if you believe some content infringes your rights, write to itosellos@hotmail.it, stating the content and the reason. We check it and, if the report is well founded, remove the content. Repeated infringements can lead to the account being closed.

6. Game content provided by the app

• The game content included in the app comes only from the System Reference Document (SRD), which is freely licensed: classes, species, backgrounds and rules. Custom («homebrew») fields are filled in by you and are your content (§ 5).
• Attribution required by the licence:

• RPG Assistant is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast.
• The demo campaign «Shadows over Brackenford» is original content.

7. AI assistant

• It is optional and runs only when you use it.
• The text you send and the context it needs go to the AI provider (Anthropic): see the privacy policy, § 4.
• Answers are generated automatically and can be wrong, inconsistent or unsuitable. Read them before using them; whatever you decide to save becomes your content (§ 5).
• AI use has limits: a maximum number of requests per day and a monthly AI budget for each Master's campaigns. When a limit is reached, the app says so clearly.
• Do not use the AI to generate illegal content or to get around its safety filters.

8. Fair use

You may not:

• get around the limits, the invite codes or the access controls;
• read data your role does not give you access to;
• use automated tools to overload the service or copy its content;
• resell access.

If you find a security problem, write to itosellos@hotmail.it: we will fix it and thank you.

9. Suspension and closure

• We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, normally after a warning, except in serious cases.
• You can close your account whenever you like from the app («Delete account», in the campaign list). Campaigns where you are the Master pass to the longest-standing co-Master; without one, they are deleted, including the players' content. The app shows you what will happen first.
• If we close the beta or the service, we will give you at least 30 days' notice, so you can save your content.

10. Liability

During the beta the service is free and provided «as is». To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damage or for data loss caused by events outside our control. This does not limit our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, nor the rights that the law grants to consumers.

11. Changes to the terms

If we change these terms substantially, we will tell you in the app before the changes take effect. If you do not accept them, you can close your account.

12. Governing law

Italian law. For consumers, the competent court is that of the consumer's place of residence or domicile, and the mandatory protections of the consumer's country remain in force.

2. Beta chiusa

• L'accesso è su invito: per registrarti serve un codice.
• Durante la beta il servizio è gratuito e viene offerto «così com'è»: le funzioni possono cambiare o sparire, possono esserci interruzioni e non garantiamo tempi di disponibilità.
• Facciamo backup giornalieri, ma tieni una copia di ciò che per te è importante.
• I piani a pagamento, quando arriveranno, avranno condizioni proprie, che accetterai al momento dell'acquisto.

3. Il tuo account

• Un account per persona.
• Usa un'email valida e tieni riservata la password.
• Devi avere almeno 16 anni (vedi l'informativa privacy, § 8).
• Sei responsabile di ciò che succede con il tuo account; avvisaci subito se pensi che qualcuno lo usi al posto tuo.

4. Campagne e ruoli

• Chi crea una campagna ne è il Master: invita i giocatori, gestisce personaggi e contenuti, può archiviare la campagna e, una volta archiviata, eliminarla.
• Eliminare una campagna cancella anche i contenuti scritti dai giocatori in quella campagna. Il Master deve confermare scrivendo il nome della campagna.
• Il Master può rimuovere un personaggio da una campagna, o segnarlo come caduto o ritirato.
• Ogni giocatore vede solo ciò che il Master ha reso visibile e ciò che riguarda il suo personaggio.
• Ogni utente può creare al massimo 10 campagne.

5. I contenuti che scrivi

• Restano tuoi. Ci concedi solo il permesso necessario a far funzionare l'app: salvarli, mostrarli ai membri della tua campagna secondo il loro ruolo e mandarli all'assistente AI quando lo usi (§ 7). Il permesso finisce quando cancelli il contenuto o l'account, salvo le copie di backup, che spariscono entro 14 giorni.
• Sei responsabile di ciò che scrivi. In particolare, non inserire materiale protetto da diritto d'autore senza averne il diritto (compresi i testi di manuali di gioco non liberi, vedi § 6), dati personali reali di altre persone, contenuti illegali, d'odio o di molestia verso persone reali.
• Segnalazioni (notice & takedown): chi ritiene che un contenuto violi i suoi diritti scrive a itosellos@hotmail.it, indicando il contenuto e il motivo. Verifichiamo e, se la segnalazione è fondata, rimuoviamo il contenuto. In caso di violazioni ripetute possiamo chiudere l'account.

6. Contenuti di gioco forniti dall'app

• I contenuti di gioco inclusi nell'app vengono solo dal System Reference Document (SRD), con licenza libera: classi, specie, background e regole. I campi personalizzati («homebrew») li compili tu e sono contenuti tuoi (§ 5).

7. Assistente AI

• È facoltativo e parte solo quando lo usi.
• Il testo che invii e il contesto necessario vanno al fornitore AI (Anthropic): vedi l'informativa privacy, § 4.
• Le risposte sono generate automaticamente e possono essere sbagliate, incoerenti o inadatte. Rileggile prima di usarle; ciò che decidi di salvare diventa un contenuto tuo (§ 5).
• L'uso dell'AI ha dei limiti: un numero massimo di richieste al giorno e un budget AI mensile per le campagne di ogni Master. Quando un limite è raggiunto l'app lo dice chiaramente.
• Non usare l'AI per generare contenuti illegali o per aggirare i suoi filtri di sicurezza.

8. Uso corretto

Non è permesso:

• aggirare i limiti, i codici d'invito o i controlli di accesso;
• leggere dati a cui il tuo ruolo non dà accesso;
• usare programmi automatici per sovraccaricare il servizio o copiarne i contenuti;
• rivendere l'accesso.

9. Sospensione e chiusura

• Possiamo sospendere o chiudere un account che viola questi termini, di norma dopo un avviso, salvo i casi gravi.
• Puoi chiudere il tuo account quando vuoi dall'app («Elimina account», nell'elenco delle campagne). Le campagne di cui sei Master passano al co-Master più anziano; senza co-Master vengono eliminate, compresi i contenuti dei giocatori. L'app ti mostra prima cosa succederà.
• Se chiudiamo la beta o il servizio, ti avvisiamo con almeno 30 giorni di anticipo, così puoi salvare i tuoi contenuti.

10. Responsabilità

Durante la beta il servizio è gratuito e offerto «così com'è». Nei limiti consentiti dalla legge non rispondiamo di danni indiretti né di perdite di dati dovute a cause fuori dal nostro controllo. Resta ferma la responsabilità per dolo o colpa grave e restano salvi i diritti che la legge riconosce ai consumatori.

11. Modifiche ai termini

Se cambiamo questi termini in modo sostanziale te lo diciamo nell'app prima che entrino in vigore. Se non li accetti puoi chiudere l'account.

12. Legge applicabile

Legge italiana. Per i consumatori è competente il foro del luogo di residenza o domicilio del consumatore e restano ferme le tutele inderogabili del suo paese.
